Last Sunday was a day I won’t soon forget! We got up at 3 a.m. for Robbie’s marathon. We left the house by 4 and headed to Conquering the Cove for the second year in a row. We had realized a couple of days before that the race was on a Sunday (most are Saturdays), and Robbie had already told a client that he would rip all of the carpets out of a house on Sunday. We were in for a crazy day!
I thankfully decided to pack an iced coffee in my half asleep stupor, knowing I’d be glad later. I drank it as soon as I got back to the car. It was amazing! Sadly, I can’t say it worked too well, as soon after I fell asleep sitting in the car lol.
Robbie finished in 5 hours and had an awesome race! He was less trained this year and finished a little slower, but he had so much fun. I love seeing that silly grin on his face after ultras, he’s so happy!
After the race we drove an hour back home, grabbed some lunch, and headed over to the client’s house. We (and by we I mean mostly Robbie) then proceeded to rip and haul out all of the carpet out of a house for over 4 hours.
I was practically falling asleep from complete exhaustion, and Robbie felt perfectly fine. You know, get up at 3 a.m., run a marathon, rip carpet out for 4 hours. Perfectly normal day, right?! Pretty sure he’s superman!
