Hubby has been loving these tuna sandwiches this month. He’s been eating them at least a couple times every week, they’re such a quick and healthy weekday lunch!
I’ve been on a mug cake kick this month! This chocolate peanutbutter mug cake is the perfect quick dessert to satisfy any sweet tooth!
Robbie ran his first race of 2015: Frozen Toe. He loved it! You can read his recap here!
We also put together a post about tips for running in cold weather. I have found that actually prefer to run in the cold. I ran one day when it was 21 degrees, and 40 degrees is downright balmy…who am I?!
This has been a crazy month. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to remind me it’s real. I wrote this post reflecting on this crazy time in our lives, I know I’ll look back and miss it one day soon.
I wrote a post called Don’t tell me I’m beautiful this month. It was a really hard post to write, but I really felt like my story needed to be told. I truly believe that honesty is beautiful in so many ways. In this post I talk about some of my most personal struggles, and my goals for the new year.
Overall, January has just been a crazy month of trying to get settled in. For awhile, I was having to travel once a day to take care of my cats, because we hadn’t put our flooring in yet and couldn’t move them in. I was so happy when we got them all moved in!
My poor shy tommy boy had the hardest time settling in. He hid for about a week before he was brave enough to come out in the open with the other kitties. I felt so bad for him, he does not adjust as quickly as the other kitties. He’s my baby that I rescued from a business in town that heard a kitten meowing. I fed him for 3 weeks before I was finally able to catch him!
This is Kota. Aka evil/ridiculously cute kitty. It took him approximately 10 seconds to decide he’s king of the house. If he hears us at all, he’ll scratch at the cat door and howl until we let him out. He also loves opening every door in the apartment. I still don’t understand, but he does!
Last week Kota broke our nice floor length mirror that we had in the cat room. We had just started to get ready to sleep and we heard a horrible crash. Let me tell you, it’s a blast to clean up broken glass shards at midnight. Then we thought that raindrop escaped because we couldn’t find him anywhere. After searching the apartment like 5 times, I was hysterical and convinced that he got outside and I’d never see him again. We went outside in the sub freezing night and called and looked for him for probably 15 minutes. I went back inside and there he was! I still have no idea where he was hiding.
Dozer says his favorite activity this month has been trying to make me trip. He is insistent on laying as much in the way as possible when I’m cooking dinner. I can’t even count how many times I’ve been stepped on/tripped/almost went falling across the room. He’s also a hopeless beggar!
Some happy news this month! Our foster dog Gracie (pictured above) was adopted! She had been with Robbie for over a year and was such a sweet dog, we couldn’t understand why she hadn’t been adopted. Her forever family includes a mom and dad who are crazy in love with her, a doggy brother, and trips to doggy daycare! She is living every dog’s dream!
Our only foster right now is Momma (Queenie). We call her mommas and mommaciiiita. 🙂 When momma came to Robbie pregnant last year, she’d had pretty much zero socialization. He raised her puppies and they got adopted, but she’s still coming out of her shell. This month I have really been so proud of how far she’s come. We used to have to chase her to get her to come back inside, and you could barely get near her. Now she takes treats our of our hands (so sweetly and gently!), lets us hold her, and pet her! She’s still pretty skittish, but has come so far!
