Welcome back to my monthly traffic and income report series! My goal from the beginning of this blog was to learn how to make an income from it.
Each month I’m sharing with you my successes, failures, and things that I’m learning along the way. I’ve revamped my reports starting this month to add more value to my readers and any bloggers who read along. Let me know in the comments what you would like to see in these reports!
If you’re here for the food and wondering why I’m not talking recipes, you can stop reading here and go check out this Famous Crispy Potato Casserole!
First, I’ll start off with the income this month. As a reminder, I count income earned in the month, not income received (as sometimes I do not receive payment for 1-3 months, depending on the company/project.
MediaVine Income went down this month (as expected with lesser page views). I had one sponsored post through Clever Girls Collective this month that I really really loved!
June’s RPM was pretty great!
My goal is to stay in the $5-10 rpm range each month, so June was right on target.
No new or unusual expenses this month. I’m doing my best to keep my expenses as low as possible and am pretty happy with where they are at now!
I have my eye on a few more services that may be beneficial to me, but for now these are my standard monthly costs.
I also expense food costs (when I remember), but this month I did not. This often happens when I plan a recipe last minute, plus overall I did not post much this month (more on that later.)
Traffic was down from last month (those spikes can’t last forever sadly), but still good.
My monthly page view goal is still 100k, but I am starting to stick in the 50k-70k range for several months now so that is a big improvement from last fall when I averaged 30k – 40k a month.
Here is my top 10 sources of traffic for June. My goal is to grow the organic and Pinterest as much as possible! Features offer a nice traffic spike, but die off after several days.
- After June, I officially backed off on seeking out sponsored posts (at least for several months.) This is a bit of a bummer to me, but with my son due any day now, I wanted to be on the safe side with work commitments. My main goal through August at least (and possibly September) will be to grow my page views and work on improving the content that I already have. There are many older posts that I am in the process of going through to update in various ways, including making sure that I have done everything I can for SEO.
- I only posted 3 new recipes for June. This is way lower than I would like (my goal is at least 6-8 a month.) Again, I am trying to take it easy on myself as this pregnancy has definitely thrown me off my normal cooking game. I can’t wait to get my normal taste buds back once this little guy makes his appearance!
As always, instagram and twitter growth eludes me. Learning to grow these two social medias has always been a challenge for me, and one that I will continue to work on every month!
Well, that’s it for this month’s report, be sure to check in next month to see what’s new!
