Vegetarian biscuits and gravy recipe – classic comfort food gone meatless!
Yesterday was Father’s Day, and I surprised Robbie with one of his favorite breakfasts – vegetarian biscuits and gravy.
Since going vegetarian, biscuits and gravy was one meal that he really missed. I first made it for him last Father’s Day, and this year I’m finally getting around to sharing the recipe on the blog.

How to make vegetarian biscuits and gravy
First, make up a batch of the best vegetarian gravy. I do not take it lightly when I say this is simple the BEST vegetarian gravy recipe I have ever made.
Ever since creating this gravy, we make it every single year at Thanksgiving. I was never much of a gravy person growing up, but this recipe changed my mind.
It is the single most delicious gravy I have ever tasted, meatless or otherwise!
While your gravy is cooking, start cooking the sausage. I bought a roll of vegan sausage (same shape as a pound of hamburger would come in.)
Use a spatula to break up the sausage into small pieces. Cook until browned, stirring often.
Once your gravy is done and your vegan sausage is browned, add the sausage to the gravy and stir.
Serve over warm biscuits for the ultimate vegetarian comfort food breakfast!
You can make your own biscuits from scratch, or just buy the ones you bake (that is what I did.)
Robbie was in absolute heaven eating this! He raved and raved about how good it was. I never grew up eating biscuits and gravy, but I even found this to be fantastic!
He is eating leftovers for breakfast the next few days and is in complete bliss. This recipe is always going to be one of our favorites for special occasions!
You just have to try these vegetarian biscuits and gravy! It’s seriously lick the plate clean good. Worth every delicious calorie!

Vegetarian Biscuits and Gravy Recipe:
- 1 roll of vegan sausage (14 oz)
- 10 biscuits
- 1 batch vegetarian gravy
- Make one batch of vegetarian gravy according to instructions
- While the gravy is cooking, heat a skillet on medium and add a drizzle of olive oil
- Add vegan sausage to the skillet and break it into small pieces with a spatula.
- Cook until browned, stirring often
- Once gravy is finished, add the cooked sausage and stir
- Serve sausage gravy poured over warm biscuits
