Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 ½ cups grated parmesan cheese
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1.5 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a sauce pan over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and stir constantly until fragrant (less than a minute).
  • Add the all-purpose flour and whisk constantly for around 1 minute, until it starts to brown.
  • Add the milk and heavy cream, stirring often until totally combined (around 5 minutes). Be careful not to burn the milk, and turn the heat down if it starts to boil. Watch the sauce closely to avoid burning.
  • Add the parmesan cheese and stir until totally melted. Salt to taste and remove from the heat.

Notes

This sauce comes together quickly and requires stirring often to avoid burning. It's best to gather and prepare your ingredients first so that you can add them as soon as they are needed and make the process go smoothly.
