Christmas Crack Recipe

This Christmas crack is also known as saltine toffee candy. A holiday must have!

Ingredients

  • 1 sleeve saltine crackers around 35
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 10 oz semi sweet chocolate chips

Topping ideas

  • m&m's
  • roasted chopped nuts
  • crushed oreos
  • crushed toffee bits or candy pieces

Instructions

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and line up the saltine crackers in rows
  • Melt the butter and brown sugar in a sauce pan and bring to a boil
  • Boil 2 - 3 minutes, stirring constantly, until thick
  • Pour the toffee over saltines and spread out evenly using a rubber spoon or spatula
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 4 - 5 minutes, until browned and bubbly but not burnt
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the top and wait 5 minutes
  • After chocolate sits for 5 minutes, use the back of a spoon to spread it evenly across the crackers.
  • If you are adding other toppings like crushed candies, chopped nuts, m&m's, chopped heath bits, etc, add them now while the chocolate is meted.
  • Place the christmas crack in the fridge or freezer until set, then break into pieces
  • Store in the fridge or freezer in an airtight container or bag
