What you’ll need to make this Banana Bread Chocolate Chip Recipe

  • ripe bananas: you want bananas that are at least medium brown and spotted. The more ripe the banana, the sweeter the taste is
  • unsalted butter: you can substitute this for dairy free butter, or olive oil
  • eggs
  • vanilla extract
  • cinnamon
  • all-purpose flour
  • salt
  • baking soda
  • brown sugar: we love using brown sugar in chocolate chip banana bread. You can also substitute half regular sugar if you want to!
  • chocolate chips: we use semi-sweet chocolate chips, but you can also use dark chocolate chips

How to make Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  2. Grease a 9×5 loaf pan with cooking spray
  3. Mix the wet ingredients: melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and mashed bananas
  4. Mix the dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon
  5. Add it all together: Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix until just combined
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips
  7. Pour the batter into the pan: sprinkle with additional chocolate chips, and bake for 45-50 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
  8. Rest for 10 minutes in the pan, then remove onto a wire cooling rack

Tips for making moist Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips

  • Do not over mix: mixing the batter too much will result in a harder and more dense banana bread. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined and no streaks of flour remain.
  • Do not over bake: bake your banana bread with chocolate chips until a tooth pick inserted comes out clean. Watch carefully during the last few minutes to avoid cooking it too long.

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup ripe mashed banana, around 3 medium sized bananas
  • cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • cup semi sweet chocolate chips, plus more for topping

Instructions 

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
  • Grease a 9×5 loaf pan with cooking spray
  • Add the melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and mashed bananas to a large bowl
