The full recipe and instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here are the ingredients that you will need.

Ingredient Notes

  • mayo: regular mayonnaise
  • bbq sauce: regular bbq sauce, not spicy
  • mustard: plain mustard
  • honey: just a little bit to sweeten
sauce in a white ramekin with fries in a bowl and a whisk

Recipe Tip

I have found that using a whisk results in the perfect creaminess and lets the mayo combine completely into the sauce. Sometimes a spoon won’t be able to mix it quite as well. Just whisk together the mayo, mustard, bbq sauce, and honey in a bowl and serve!

It’s really that easy. No fancy ingredients. Probably all stuff that you already have on hand!

  1. Solid recipe! I add the tiniest bit more honey and bbq sauce, plus a splash of vinegar and a pinch of paprika. The vinegar and paprika are on the actual list ingredient list and I’ve found that it really does bring this sauce as close as possible to the real thing. Loved it. Thanks!

    1. @Katie, the vinegar and paprika really helped to complete this sauce! (I used 1/16 teaspoon of Paprika and 1/2 teaspoon of white vinegar)

  2. I luv this same so much. I decided to bake some boneless skinless chicken breast and use this sauce instead of bbq sauce. It came out fantastically! I had it over some herbed angel hair pasta with steamed broccoli. My family went crazy for it. Thanks for sharing this recipe. It was easy to made and absolutely delicious.

  3. My kids love Chick fil and this was a hit. So good. So easy. There is a huge jar in the refrigerator at all times. I sent this recipe to our foreign exchange student from Lithuania and she could not have been more exited.

  4. I use sour cream instead of mayo because I despise mayo in any context lol And I also use maple syrup instead of honey just because I prefer it and have it on hand. So my version doesn’t taste “exactly” like CFA sauce, but darn close and darn good. I actually add a splash of liquid smoke sometimes and then it turns into the Honey Roasted Bbq sauce they have!

  5. THIS IS THE ONE. Taste just like the real thing. I previously made another recipe that called for lemon juice and dijon mustard, which made it too tangy. The ratio of this recipe is perfect.

  6. Oh my gosh. This tastes just like Chick-fil-A sauce!! I only made a small batch at first because so many of these copycat recipes are good, but don’t come close to the original. This is the exception. Best copycat recipe I’ve ever found! Thank you!!!

  7. Made this today using my mustard based BBQ sauce. That made it turn out so good! We both like the CFA sauce. But this is much better.
