Whether you are looking for a delicious breakfast smoothie or a post workout smoothie, you will fall in love with this creamy peanut butter banana smoothie!

It’s thick and creamy, simple to make, and sweetened with honey.

When my oldest son was struggling with weight gain, I would make him one of these smoothies every night for a bedtime snack. It’s full of healthy fat and protein but more importantly it tastes amazing!

Ingredient Notes

  • frozen bananas – I always keep a bag of frozen bananas on hand in my freezer for smoothie making. Break your overripe bananas into chunks, add to a ziploc freezer bag, and store it in the freezer for smoothies.
  • greek yogurt – unsweetened greek yogurt adds a nice tangy taste, with an added punch of protein.
  • all natural peanut butter – the only ingredients should be peanuts and salt.
  • honey – just a touch to complement the natural sweetness of the bananas
  • milk of choice – any milk you have on hand
  • ice – I love using ice to make my smoothies even thicker like ice cream texture.

How to make a peanut butter and banana smoothie

Add all the ingredients to a high speed blender and blend until smooth.

Recipe Tip

If you do not have a high speed blender, I would suggest leaving out the ice at first. Blend your smoothie, then add ice after to your desired thickness.

Ways to customize

  • Make it a green smoothie: add spinach for some greens, you won’t even taste it
  • Add fiber: add flax seeds, chia seeds, or hemp seeds
  • Chocolate: craving chocolate? add mini chocolate chips on top, or mix them into the smoothie itself
  • Protein: make it even higher in protein by adding a scoop of vanilla or chocolate protein powder

For me, I prefer my smoothies thick and creamy instead of smooth and runny. Greek yogurt and peanut butter and protein, which makes this smoothie the perfect breakfast in a hurry. Each serving contains around 10g of protein.
