Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

Whether you are looking for a delicious breakfast smoothie or a post workout smoothie, you will love with this peanut butter banana smoothie!

It’s thick and creamy, simple to make, and naturally sweetened with honey.

When my oldest son was struggling with weight gain, I would make him one of these smoothies every night for a bedtime snack. It’s made with filling ingredients, but most importantly it tastes amazing!

Ingredient Notes

  • Frozen bananas – I always keep a bag of frozen bananas on hand in my freezer for smoothie making. Break your overripe bananas into chunks, place them in a ziploc freezer bag, and store it in the freezer for smoothies.
  • Greek yogurt – unsweetened greek yogurt adds a nice tangy taste and added protein.
  • All natural peanut butter – the only ingredients should be peanuts and salt.
  • Honey – just a little bit to complement the natural sweetness of the bananas.
  • Milk of choice – any milk you have on hand.
  • Ice – I love using ice to make my smoothies even thicker like ice cream texture. You can skip this for a thinner smoothie.

How to make a peanut butter and banana smoothie

Add all the ingredients to a high speed blender and blend until smooth.

Recipe Tip

If you do not have a high speed blender, I would suggest leaving out the ice at first. Blend your smoothie, then add ice after to your desired thickness.

Customizing your smoothie

  • Make it a green smoothie: add spinach for some greens, you won’t even taste it!
  • Add fiber: Try adding flax seeds, chia seeds, or hemp seeds.
  • Chocolate: Craving chocolate? Add mini chocolate chips on top, or mix them into the smoothie itself.
  • Protein: Make it even higher in protein by adding a scoop of vanilla or chocolate protein powder.

For me, I prefer my smoothies thick and creamy instead of smooth and runny. Greek yogurt and peanut butter and protein, which makes this smoothie the perfect breakfast in a hurry.

Each serving has around 10g of protein!

This is now a favorite for both my hubby and me. It’s soooo delicious! As an added treat, we sprinkled some dark chocolate flakes over it. Mmmmmm ☺️

    1. The recipe is going to need milk to be able to blend it. You won’t taste the milk! You can also use any kind of milk, plant based or regular.

    1. I usually buy Kroger store brand. I have also found a similar no sugar added peanut butter at target 🙂

    1. @Dina, Divide all ingredients by 3. I use roughly 2/3 c. Frzn banana chunks. 4 Tablespoons yogurt, 4 Tablespoons peanut butter, 2 tsp, honey, 1/3 cup almond milk and 1/3 cup of ice. Blend
