These easy chocolate cookies are the latest way that I’m loving cake mix!

We love to make cake mix blueberry muffins and cake mix cookies in our house.

All you need to make chocolate cake mix cookies is a box of your favorite cake mix, oil, eggs, and chocolate chips.

Cake mix chocolate chip cookies are similar to this recipe, but using yellow cake mix! And so are these Cake Mix Christmas Cookies.

Whenever I’m craving cake batter I make a batch of these easy funfetti cake mix cookies.

cake mix, eggs, oil, and chocolate chips

The batter comes together in just 5 minutes and you’re ready to bake! I call these cheater cookies, because they are really almost too easy for how good they taste.

How to make cookies from cake mix

Add cake mix, eggs, and oil to a large mixing bowl. I used Duncan Hines Dark Chocolate fudge cake mix. Use beaters to mix until a batter forms (this will not take long).

Fold in your chocolate chips until combined. Drop by spoonfuls onto a baking sheet, or roll into balls if you want perfectly shaped cookies.

Me personally, I’m team as long as they’re cookies they are delicious, so I don’t bother with perfect little balls. Either way they are going to taste amazing! Bake the cookies at 350 degrees for 12 – 15 minutes.

You can tell the cookies are almost done when they puff up a significant amount, around 2 – 3 minutes later they will flatten back down, and the tops will look cooked.

This is when you remove them from the oven (for me it was right at 15 minutes, but the time may vary based on your oven).

The inside is fudgy and cakey, while the outside has those perfect crispy edges.

These simple chocolate cake mix cookies are perfect for kids to help make, and a time saving hack for when you need a dessert to serve fast!

Don’t have brownie mix but craving brownies? Try these cake mix brownies! I used the same dark chocolate fudge cake mix for this recipe.

  1. I followed your directions but it doesn’t say anything about water. And now I have a mix that is way too dry to do anything with.

    1. The recipe does not call for water, only the ingredients listed in the ingredients section on this page, not on the box of cake mix.

    2. @Tiffany Mahe, I followed the recipe exactly, except I substituted the oil with applesauce, and they turned out absolutely perfect. I’m making them again with white chocolate chips instead right now.

    3. @Aimee, thanks for that report. Very helpful to me. Always looking for ways to cut fat and calories and make something indulgent a little healthier!
