I love my smoothies thick and this one does not disappoint! Frozen bananas and blueberries are great for achieving a super thick smoothie texture.

This would make a great addition to your breakfast or a mid afternoon pick me up.

Ingredients to make it

  • Frozen blueberries
  • Frozen bananas
  • Almond butter: I like the flavor of almond butter in this smoothie, but peanut butter would also work just fine.
  • Almond milk: or any milk you have on hand.
  • Ground flax seed: I like adding this to my smoothies for an added fiber boost.

How to make a blueberry banana smoothie

Add the frozen bananas, frozen blueberries, almond butter, ground flax seed, and almond milk to a high speed blender. Blend and enjoy!

Using frozen fruit makes this smoothie super thick and creamy. If you prefer a thinner smoothie, you can always add more milk to your preference.

Frozen bananas are great for getting that thick ice cream like texture in smoothies. Frozen blueberries are also one of my favorite fruits to keep on hand for smoothies. They are so versatile and go well with most fruits.

This smoothie was so delicious and easy to make with ingredients that I already had in my kitchen!

Do bananas go well with blueberries?

Yes! Bananas and blueberries pair so well in flavor. Since both fruits are naturally sweet, you won’t need any added sweetener in your smoothie.
