Apple crisp is a crowd pleasing dessert that not only makes your kitchen smell incredible, but makes everyone who tastes it fall in love! It’s a fall must have.

Years ago, I perfected my vegan apple crisp recipe, and I am putting a spin on that to make it gluten free.

Inspired by the filling for that recipe, and using the crisp topping from this blueberry peach crisp recipe, I was able to create the ultimate gluten free apple crisp!

Every fall I find myself making all the fresh apple recipes. Another one of our favorites is baked cinnamon apples.

There is nothing like the cozy smell of spiced apples baking in the oven to really get me in the fall mood!

Next, add the lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and cornstarch.

How to make gluten free crisp topping

In a bowl, whisk together the sugar, gluten free oat flour, gluten free rolled oats, and salt.

Melt the coconut oil and vegan butter in a microwave safe bowl until they turn to liquid.

Pour the melted butter and oil onto the whisked ingredients, then use a rubber spatula to mix it all together until it resembled wet sand.

Use a small baking dish or pie plate for baking.

First, add the apple filling and spread out evenly.

Top with the crisp topping spread out to cover the apples in an even layer.

Bake at 350 degrees until your gluten free apple crisp is bubbly and golden browned on top.

  1. Thank you for this tasty recipe. My dad brought me loads of Granny Smith and my kids love them raw but with winter arriving a warm apple crisp is what the doctor orders! This was so tasty and spot on. I did peel my apples, my kids enjoy eating all the peels while I whip it together. Thank you. Making again tonight once kids asleep so I can have a massive serving to myself!

  2. Wow, just wow!! This was insanely delicious! The apple crisp was so yummy. We loved it served warm served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

  3. My husband and kids love to have a homemade apple crisp for dessert. I rarely feel like making it, but still I cannot but totally agree that this easy apple dessert is fantastic. We love it with a scoop of non-dairy ice cream too. Oh, I almost forgot! Once I added dried cranberries and pecans to the topping. Turned out amazing!

      1. I have not tried it but I think it would be fine. If you have oats, you can blend them in a blender to make oat flour!
