Peanut Butter Blossoms

Peanut butter blossoms are a must make Christmas dessert, now made even easier with a box of cake mix!

They are so simple to throw together and all you need is just 6 ingredients.

Some recipes are better totally from scratch, but I would argue that these are one exception. The cake mix gives these cookies such a delicious thick and chewy texture that is perfect for peanut butter blossoms.

Cake mix has quickly become one of my favorite ways for making easy, classic desserts in a fraction of the time.

“I need to tell you, those cake mix peanut butter blossoms are the REAL DEAL! So good and much less work than making from scratch. Honestly might even be better because of how fluffy they are!” -recipe review

How to make cake mix peanut butter blossoms

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Beat together the eggs, peanut butter, softened butter, and cake mix until combined.

Step 2: Use a mini cookie scoop to form dough balls, then roll each one in the granulated sugar.

Step 3: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and place the cookie dough balls on it.

Step 4: Bake the peanut butter blossom cookies for 12-14 minutes, until the edges begin to brown. Cool the cookies on the sheet for 1-2 minutes, then transfer them to a cooling rack.

Step 5: Press a Hershey kiss into the center of each cookie while it is still warm. Allow the cookies to cool completely before storing them.

These are so perfectly soft and chewy and have such a great texture. If you have ever had flat peanut butter blossoms, you know they just are not as good.

The fluffy texture is really what sets these apart! They are the best peanut butter blossoms I have ever eaten.

The cake mix makes these so delightfully chewy, thick and rich. Everyone in my house loved these!

Tips for success

  • Use a cookie scoop: This helps make evenly sized cookies and makes the process go a lot faster.
  • Don’t over bake: Remove the cookies when the edges are set but the centers still look slightly soft. This keeps them soft and chewy.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet: Allow them to rest for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack, as they will be delicate while warm.
  • Unwrap the kisses ahead of time: Unwrap the chocolate kisses before the cookies finish baking so you can work quickly.
  • Add the chocolate kisses right away: Press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie while they are still warm so that it sticks.

How to store cake mix peanut butter blossoms

Leftover peanut butter blossoms can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 4-5 days. Place a piece of wax or parchment paper between layers of cookies so that the kisses do not stick or smudge.
