This recipe uses dark chocolate fudge cake mix for a rich and super chocolatey brownie that tastes amazing!
Ingredients & Notes
- Chocolate cake mix
- olive oil: or substitute vegetable oil or another neutral cooking oil
- vanilla extract
- chocolate chips: mix and match chocolate chip types for more flavor combinations!
While I love a good dessert made from scratch, sometimes you need those quick and fast recipes that you can whip up in no time!
How to make brownies from cake mix
Step 1: Add the chocolate fudge cake mix, oil, eggs, vanilla extract, and chocolate chips to a large bowl. Use a rubber spatula or spoon to mix the batter until it is completely combined.
For this recipe, I used Duncan Hines Dark Chocolate Fudge, but any chocolate cake mix will work.
Step 2: Spray an 8 X 8 baking dish with cooking spray, then add the brownie batter in.
Smush it down into the edges, and flatten out any lumps.
Step 3: Bake the brownies at 350 degrees until a toothpick inserted comes out clean, around 20 – 25 minutes!
Allow them to cool completely before cutting for easiest results. If you’re like me, this is pretty much impossible!
Share these cake mix brownies at a party, with your friends and neighbors, or just make it for yourself when you deserve a treat. You’re going to love them!

Was looking for the 13 by 9 it sounds delicious.
same amount of ingredients as if brownie box.
8×8 is offered as well as 9×13..
I used 9×13 cuz I’d rather have a thinner brownie.
also used butter and coconut oil instead of oo.
Is the recommended temperature for a standard conventional oven or a convection oven? if not for convection, would 325ยฐ be an adequate adjustment?
These brownies come out super good are nice and thick and taste homemade. Followed recipe exactly. Two thumbs up from entire family ๐
Oh dear I only have a 9×13 glass pan ๐ I so wanted to try this recipe. I wonder if I used the glass pan, and reduced the cooking time if they would just be thinner and maybe even crunchy on the edges (which I love!) I mean it is only a few fairy inexpensive ingredients if it is a fail right?!?
Just double recipe
Can I use a 9X13 pan instead?
It will affect the cook time and thickness of the brownies so you would need to experiment with it.
