The full recipe and instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here are the ingredients that you will need.

Ingredient Notes

  • mayo: regular mayonnaise
  • bbq sauce: regular bbq sauce, not spicy
  • mustard: plain mustard
  • honey: just a little bit to sweeten
sauce in a white ramekin with fries in a bowl and a whisk

Recipe Tip

I have found that using a whisk results in the perfect creaminess and lets the mayo combine completely into the sauce. Sometimes a spoon won’t be able to mix it quite as well. Just whisk together the mayo, mustard, bbq sauce, and honey in a bowl and serve!

It’s really that easy. No fancy ingredients. Probably all stuff that you already have on hand!

  1. Tasty copycat and so much healthier. My 6 yo is thrilled to have his favorite sauce at home.

  2. This recipe came in clutch. I had just microwaved myself a plate of chicken nuggies, and went to the fridge for some of my favorite chick fil a sauce. But disaster! The bottle is empty! In a panicked flurry, I looked up a recipe online. This came up first. I was able to enjoy my nuggies with your sauce before they became cold. I thank you with all my heart. You have saved my nuggies.

  3. If you use a honey barbequ and no honey it still gets the job done. It takes the same as Chich-fil-A sauce!

  4. I added a bit of Accent and black pepper, and it tastes *exactly* like Chick-fil-A sauce. I told my brother to try it, and he agreed, he hates agreeing with me lol.

    1. @Jennifer, there’s a brand called KC Natural that makes tomato free products and their BBQ sauce is very good.

  5. I live in Central America and have been craving Chick Fil A for months. I can make good chicken but the sauce has been lacking. I made this tonight with my own chicken nuggets and it was amazing. I did add a few shakes of salt and pepper and a touch of vinegar since my BBQ sauce didn’t have much in it. I could close my eyes and see myself sitting with my mom back home at lunch.
