My sister in law introduced me to pasta chips last year when we came for a visit and I could not believe what I had been missing!

They were crunchy, parmesan garlic bites of perfection that tasted incredible. Add in dipping it in marinara and it was next level delicious!

If you’re wondering can you cook pasta in an air fryer? The answer is yes and the result is a crispy crunchy garlic parmesan pasta chip that you won’t be able to stop eating!

I love our air fryer and we use it almost every single day in our house. Some of our other favorite recipes include air fryer frozen onion rings, air fryer mushrooms, air fryer broccoli, and these air fryer quesadillas.

How to make pasta chips in the air fryer

Step 1: Cook the pasta (we used bowtie) according to the package instructions for al dente. Drain the pasta immediately and do not let it overcook.

Step 2: Add the cooked pasta noodles to a large mixing bowl. To the pasta, add the minced garlic, italian seasoning, parmesan cheese, and olive oil.

Give the pasta a good stir until everything is well combined with the pasta noodles.

Step 3: Spray the bottom of the air fryer basket with cooking spray

Step 4: Add the bowtie pasta in one layer only to the bottom of the air fryer. Do not overcrowd the pasta.

You will need to work in batches of single layers of pasta. If you add too much pasta at once you will not get that perfect crispy texture and the noodles will be unevenly crispy.

Step 5: Air fry the pasta chips at 400 degrees for 5-8 minutes, stopping to shake 1-2 times, until golden brown and crispy.

Keep a close eye on the pasta as it will cook quickly and you need to watch it near the end to avoid burning.

We are aiming for that perfect golden brown crispy texture!

What to serve with noodle chips

As we said before, these air fryer pasta chips are delicious all by themselves. But you can really take things to the next level by dipping them in marinara sauce!

Serve these pasta chips as an appetizer with marinara or a garlic dipping sauce and you will have yourself some very happy guests.

Honestly any favorite dip would be delicious here. I could even get down with a hot and cheesy spinach artichoke dip!

You won’t be able to stop at just one serving!

By using an air fryer you get the same crispiness as you would with a deep fryer, but using a fraction of the oil.

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of the amazing texture that I get when using my air fryer.

It is definitely one of my most loved and used kitchen appliances!

What kind of parmesan cheese can I use?

I have tested this recipe both with fresh parmesan as well as the powdered kind that you buy in a container and both work well!
