These are the best peanut butter balls!
Peanut butter balls are a holiday tradition and one that I make every year.
Today I’m sharing my personal favorite way to make this classic Christmas dessert.
The rice krispies in these peanut butter balls add a delicious crunch and texture, making these one of our favorite no bake treats to whip up for the holidays!
All you need is just 5 ingredients to make this super simple and tasty dessert.
Peanut butter balls are a must have during the holidays, and our family loves this recipe! It’s always a hit and I usually make a double batch because everyone loves them.
With just a few basic ingredients, you can make this delicious no bake Christmas treat!

Ingredients you need
- Salted Butter
- Creamy No Stir Peanut Butter
- Rice Krispies Cereal
- Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips: or substitute melting wafers
- Powdered Sugar

How to make peanut butter balls with rice krispies
Step 1: Use either a stand mixer or hand mixer to combine the peanut butter and melted butter until smooth.

Step 2: Add in the rice krispies until combined. Next, add the powdered sugar. Once the mixture becomes too hard to mix, finish mixing it together by hand using a rubber spatula.

Step 3: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Use a cookie scoop to drop peanut butter balls onto the baking sheet.
Roll the batter into balls with your hands to form a round shape. Place the peanut butter balls with rice krispies in the fridge to chill for at least 30 minutes. This will make them not be so sticky and easier to dip into the melted chocolate.

Step 4: Melt the semi sweet chocolate chips in the microwave in 20-30 second increments, until smooth.
Recipe Tip
You can also use chocolate melting wafers for dipping peanut butter balls.

Dip the peanut butter balls into the melted chocolate then place them back onto the lined baking sheet.

Step 5: Place the balls back in the fridge and allow the chocolate to harden until firm.
How to store
Once hardened, place the peanut butter balls in an airtight bag or container and store them in the fridge. This recipe also freezes well, so if you find yourself with extra just pop them in the freezer.
This would also be a great way to make a Christmas recipe ahead of time and freeze it for a week or two until you’re ready to serve them!

I love all things peanut butter and chocolate, and these rice krispies truffles did not disappoint!
Not only are they easy, but they taste amazing. You just can’t go wrong with a classic favorite like peanut butter balls.

Love these so much, they are truly addicting! Thank you for the delicious recipe!
Would I be able to use a different nut butter – say Almond butter? We have a peanut allergy in our family
I don’t see why not! You just may need to adjust the rice krispies to add more if it’s too sticky.
Do you think it’d work to do them in a pan and cut them into square?
I haven’t tried it so I’m not sure if it would be too sticky or not. Let me know if you try it!
Can you use the Costco all-natural peanut butter for this recipe?
This is my go to BP ball recipe. Everyone loves them. Good crunch and not too sweet. I recommend adding a pinch of sea salt after you dip in chocolate. Perfection.
For those having issues with the melted chocolate, I melt my chocolate chips in a glass bowl over a simmering pot of water. Prevents chocolate from hardening. I also add 1-2 tsp of coconut oil for shine.
I make these every year. if I don’t make them my kids and grandkids would be upset. They freeze great. My kids would sneak them right out of the freezer when they were young.
Why the no stir peanut butter?
It’s what the recipe was tested with. If you want to use natural that is fine, but I can’t guarantee if the texture is the same. You may need to experiment and add more rice krispies or sugar.
Hello, is there any reason why I can’t use chucky peanut butter?
Thanks
As long as it’s the no stir kind you should be fine!
sounds yummy, I can’t wait to try them
thank you for sharing your recipe.
