How to make chocolate crinkle cookies with cake mix

Step 1: Place the chocolate cake mix in a mixing bowl. Add the eggs and oil. You can use any neutral oil for this recipe. We used olive oil, but vegetable oil will also work the same.

Step 2: Mix the oil and eggs into the cake mix until the batter is thick and fudgy.

Step 3: Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for one hour. Wondering why are my crinkle cookies not crinkling? It’s because you skipped this step. Chilling the dough is absolutely necessary in order for the cookies to crinkle.

Step 4: Remove the crinkle cookie dough from the fridge and roll it into balls. Roll each ball into powdered sugar and place it on a baking sheet.

Step 5: Bake the cake mix crinkle cookies at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes, then transfer them to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.

Like all of my other cake mix cookie recipes, these crinkle ones make a great treat that kids can help with. My kids love to help stir and mix and roll the dough in powdered sugar.

It’s a great simple recipe to get the whole family in the kitchen together making holiday memories!

Serve these cookies at a holiday party, or bake them at home to enjoy on a weekend cozied up by the fireplace watching Christmas movies.

These are so yummy and sure to be a hit with anyone who tries them!

Nothing is better than cookies and milk and this recipe is no exception to that rule. I love serving these with a mug of cold milk!

How to store

Leftover crinkle cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-5 days.

Can I use a different flavor cake mix?

Yes! Any kind of cake mix will work for this recipe. Just make sure you always chill the dough first.

What kind of oil can I use?

Any kind of neutral oil will work for this recipe. Vegetable oil is a common substitute olive oil in my cake mix recipes.
